Was feeling nostalgic in my "old age" and wrote this for Sissy...

What a surprise you were
Baby girl number two
Thought you were a boy
The whole time I carried you
What a delight I knew
The first time I held you
Rocked you all day long
And sang little songs to you
And even though God gave you life
You were mine

Oh how the years they flew
So many tears we shed
Too much pain to even bear
You were just a little girl
Oh how your strength pulled me through
Couldn’t make it without you
You held our family near
Just a child but wise beyond years
And even though I had my own life
You were mine

What a surprise you are
Standing here a lady now
Almost all grown-up
So beautiful and proud
Oh how my heart fills up
When I think of how far we’ve come
To get to this place
It’s been an adventure for sure
And even though you have your own life
You are still mine
